The papers consist of holdings from the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America for Research in the Modern History of Poland. Included are selected papers (1910-1971) which contain the archives of the Polish embassy in London (1912-1937) and of the Polish consulate in New York (1930-1945). The records (Microfilm 887, 774 reels) contain extensive transcripts of evidence from Polish trial records and records of Polish-American organizations. Also included are the private papers of important figures in Polish political life, among them Józef Beck, Józef Lipski and Józef Piłsudski. The so-called Belvedere Archives (Microfilm 550, 31 reels) contain secret documents (November 1918-December 1922) of the Military Chancellery of the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, i.e. Marshal Piłsudski. These papers cover military matters, foreign relations, and internal affairs. Also included are the files of General Tadeusz Rozwadowski, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, for the year 1920.
